Abstract
An experiment was designed to study the effects of dietary Selenomethionine (Sel-Plex™) or Zinc Glycine (Zn-Gly) either alone or in combination them on sex hormones, physiological, productive and reproductive parameters of Golden Montazah (GM) local chicken from 29 to 40 weeks of age. Two hundred and seventy females at 29 weeks of age were distributed randomly among nine treatment groups (30 females in each group) each treatment contained 3 replicates of 10 hens each. The first treatment was fed the basal diet and served as control, while groups 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 were given the basal diet supplemented with 0.2 mg Selenomethionine (Sel-Plex); 0.3 mg (SelPlex);100 mg Zinc Glycine (Zn-Gly); 125 mg (Zn-Gly); 0.2 mg (Sel-Plex) + 100 mg (Zn- Gly); 0.2 mg (Sel-Plex) + 125 mg (Zn-Gly); 0.3 mg (Sel-Plex) + 100 mg (Zn-Gly) and 0.3 (Sel-Plex)+ 125 mg/ kg diets. The obtained results indicated that the live body weight (LBW) was not significantly affected in females fed Sel-Plex™ with Zn-Gly or alone in diets. Feed consumption (FC) was significantly (P≤0.05) decreased with all treated groups compared to control. Feed conversion (FCR) was significantly (P≤0.05) improved in all treated groups compared with the control. Also, significant increases (P≤0.05) have been recorded in egg numbers percentage (EN), egg weight (EW) and egg mass (EM) values of T3, T5, T7, T8 and T9 compared to control (T1). Likewise, significantly different was observed in shell thickness among the dietary treatments T3, T5, T6, T7, T8 and T9 if compared with the control (T1), as well as between T9 and other treatments at 40 weeks of age. However no significant differences in shell weight %, albumen weight %, yolk weight %, yolk index and egg shape index were noticed among all the treatments The best significant results of fertility were recorded for eggs produced from hens fed T5 and T9 compared with those of all treatments.
